![]() ![]() The Apple M1 has 8 cores, with two clusters that we can separate into 4 high-performance cores/the Firestorm Cluster, which uses more energy and 4 high-powered cores/the Ice Storm cluster, which aren’t as high performance but use a lot less energy. You’ll also notice your Processing Threads will double in Logic Pro under Performance Meter once you follow these instructions. With the new Apple Silicon M1 CPUs, we can influence how the 8 multi-cores are engaged, so it is worth using Activity Monitor to gauge performance with these. Here you can see your Processing Threads (Cores) and Drive I/O (hard drive performance) Logic Pro Performance Meters Logic Pro X CPU Optimization for M1 Once you have Custom chosen, you can double click on the CPU and HD section to bring up Logic Pro’s Performance Meters. Logic Pro selecting the Custom option Logic Pro’s Custom Meters now showing on the right-hand side Logic Pro also has a set of CPU and Disk meters you can access these by clicking on the main display at the top of your Logic Pro project and choosing Custom from the menu on the right of the window. For this article, we don’t need to be too concerned with this, as it is an automatic process, which we cannot directly influence. There is also something called Hyper-Threading which is where Intel CPUs allow more than one thread to run on each core. At the bottom of the CPU tab, we also have CPU Load, and this shows how hard all our cores are working. This usually is the percentage of one of those cores on our multi-core CPU. In the first column, with the CPU tab, here we can see what percentage of the CPU our Applications are using. We can see which applications are using the most CPU and Memory by referring to Activity Monitor, so I suggest you open the Activity Monitor and leave it running as you tweak Logic Pro and watch how these tweaks affect your performance. ![]() Today we will use CPU, Memory and Disk and use these measurements to watch how our Logic Pro tweaks improve the performance of the DAW when applied. ![]() There are five headings within Activity Monitor CPU, Memory, Energy, Disk and Network. Or you can hold down the Command key (there are two, with one on either side of the Spacebar) on your keyboard and tap the Spacebar, it will launch Spotlight Search and there you can type in “Activity Monitor,” and the Mac will take you straight there a lot quicker.Īctivity Monitor is used for showing you how hard your Mac is working and which parts it is using, so I would recommend you have a look at it, and I’ll show you where to look. Your Apple Mac contains a tool called Activity Monitor, which you can find either by looking in your Applications folder and then inside the Utilities folder. Activity Monitor, use this to see how your system is allocating resources Activity Monitor Each needs to be set up in a slightly different way to maximise the power available to Logic Pro, and I’ll show you exactly how to do this in a moment.īut first I want to show you how to check your whole Mac system. Generally, we usually have two modes of using a DAW, like Logic Pro, which fall into Recording and Mixing. We can also tweak the performance of the system depending on what we are about to do. Intel & Apple Siliconīoth processor types (CPUs) are multi-core, which means you have essentially multiple ‘mini-computer brains’ assigned to various tasks, and it is worth knowing that you can fine-tune Logic Pro to make the most of these processors.Ĭurrently, you can buy either Intel or Apple Silicon processors in new Macs, both are multi-core, and both can be set up in Logic Pro to give you a much higher plug-in count with a couple of simple tweaks. There are some specific settings for making Logic Pro more powerful, depending on whether you are recording in live tracks or using it to mix down your song. ![]() When working with Apple’s Logic Pro software, it is worth looking at what you are about to do with your projects. If you have an Apple Mac and have purchased a copy of Logic Pro, you may not be aware that you can maximise your new DAW setup to give you more plug-ins and potentially more power. ![]()

![]() ![]() On the other hand, it's easy to use the menu across the top of the screen to perform tasks such as text handling, creating bullets, and changing fonts and font sizes. Google Docs simply can't compete with Word when it comes to pre-built templates. The designs themselves tend to be bare-boned, without sophisticated layouts or interactive tables of contents like the ones Word has. ![]() While Word had 50 templates for creating reports, for instance, Google Docs had only five - and all were in the Education template section. It's simple to create a new document from a template in Google Docs, but Docs doesn’t offer the same wealth of templates as Microsoft Word. There are initially a handful of templates to choose from when I clicked an arrow next to “Template gallery,” I found a little more than fifty in several categories, including Resumes, Letters, Education, and Work. It's simple to create a new document from a template in Google Docs, but I didn't find the same wealth of templates that I found when I tested Microsoft Word.Īfter logging in, you start a new document by clicking on a blank template or one of the pre-created templates at the top of the screen. Then I tested text-handling and other common features you'd use to write a report. So I started by looking for a visually compelling template to base the report on. How you present something visually can have as much of an impact as the content of the report itself. But that version of Word doesn’t include the latest features, so we’ll stick to covering the version of Word found in Office 365/Microsoft 365 in this story. One last confusing note is that Microsoft does still offer a non-subscription version of Office, currently Office 2019, that includes Word desktop software. Various business and enterprise versions are available for rates that range from $8.25per user per month to $35 per user per month. It includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access, along with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage. Confusing matters, Microsoft recently changed the name of Office 365 to Microsoft 365, but only for its consumer and small-business subscriptions the enterprise and education plans are still called Office 365.įor example, Microsoft 365 Family costs $100 per year and can be used by up to six people on an unlimited number of devices. While Microsoft does offer an online version of Word with limited features, the full Microsoft Word desktop application is available as part of Microsoft’s subscription-based Office 365 suite, which has a variety of different iterations for personal or business use. Although Google Docs is part of Google's licensed G Suite package for businesses, it remains free for individual use. Some of the features may appear differently on a Mac.Īnd before I forget - there is one glaring difference between the two that should be mentioned: price. To keep things simple, the descriptions that follow are all based on the version of Word that is part of the Office 365/Microsoft 365 suite, used on a Windows PC. Then I saved the report in a variety of file formats. I used both the local client and the online version of Word (Google Docs, of course, is only web-based). Given that it's a multiplatform world, I worked on the same document on multiple platforms: a Windows PC, a Mac, an Android tablet, an iPad and an iPhone. I then collaborated on the document in two ways: live and online (so I and a co-worker could see what each other was doing), and individually using markup and editing tools. I then did some text formatting, chose new styles, copied and pasted text, and performed similar tasks.Īfter that, I created and inserted a chart, did online research and inserted a photo from the internet. ![]() I began by creating a typical business report. ![]() ![]() ![]() These are the currently known bugs/issues with KOTOR or the mod that the K1CP is looking to resolve: As such, using K1R together with K1CP is done so at your own risk with no support offered. Whilst it was compatible with early versions of K1CP, this is highly unlikely to still be the case with the degree and nature of changes made as of K1CP v1.8 and beyond. The KOTOR 1 Restoration (K1R) mod is deemed incompatible with K1CP. Some mods will likely require updates, some may need to be installed in a specific order, whilst others may be fundamentally incompatible. It is recommended that you consult the individual authors of any large scale mods, particularly those that edit DLGs and scripts, as to whether their work is compatible with K1CP. This may result in issues with mods that simply put files in the Override folder. K1CP uses module injection in an attempt to remain as compatible as possible with other mods. If you are using the Steam version of the game and have installed Steam in its default Program Files location, we advise creating a new Steam Library on a different drive and moving the game there via the game's Properties pop-up in Steam. Windows can have permissions issues when trying to install the mod to a C drive destination. It is highly recommended that you do not install the game on your system's C drive, especially in Program Files. Warning: Never run the installer from inside the archive! Always extract the archive onto your hard drive first. Please be patient and allow it to finish. Due to the size and complexity of the patch, installation will take several minutes. Generally speaking, this mod should be installed before anything else, except mods that do hard edits/overwrites of 2DA, TLK or MOD (module) files. Run INSTALL.exe and navigate to your K1 install folder. List of Contributing Authors (alphabetical): The intention is for the changes to be as seamless as possible, fixing and improving things whilst still retaining the original developer intent.Ī huge thanks to all of the mod authors who created these mods, and allowed them to be included in this patch! Unfortunately, the individual list of changes has grown too long to be included in this post, however you can view a detailed breakdown of each author's contributions in the included readme file and a list of the changes the current version has made in the changelog file. This includes some well-known game breaking bugs/softlocks, broken quests, inaccessible content, as well as lesser issues such as problems in conversations, visual inconsistencies, player annoyances, etc. The K1 Community Patch (K1CP) is a compilation of previous bugfix mods and some new original fixes put together with the intention of resolving the many and various issues that KOTOR has. ![]() ![]() One thing you are sure to get with Lone Wolf is the ability to tuck everything easily in a nice transportable manner. They are made to mate one on top of the others bringing to the total package to a very manageable size. They are also made of aluminum and weight a total of about 10 pounds for the whole set and are 32 inches long, which is on the long side comparing to the competition. Once set-up, however, the problem disappears since you only need to climb up or down, and this is easily achievable alternating right and left foot/hand. Maybe experience will play into that, I don’t know. I often find myself trying to juggle all of my gear and raising my tree stand while trying to keep my balance on only one foot is sometimes frustrating. This design allows the saving of weight but is quite uncomfortable when trying to set up your tree stand. Some other brands have a double step design meaning that you have a step on each side on all row. They are a single step design, meaning that each row of steps is a set up to the right or the left of the stick. The Lone Wolf climbing sticks are available as single, a pack of 3 or a pack of 4 and retail for $200USD for the pack of 4. I think this is the best of both worlds.Īnother advantage of the sticks is that if you need to place one to a slight angle to accommodate the tree angle or lean, each section is short enough to conform to the shape way better than any long regular hunting ladder. The climbing sticks method help you place them everywhere you want on the tree, even if crooked, but are also easily portable. You could hardly move a complete solid 20 feet ladder every time you want to change spot, and screw-in steps are impractical at best and also damage trees. I had the chance to used them quite a lot and did multiple sits on a bunch of different sites.Īs a mobile hunter, you have a couple of possible option available, but in my mind, the climbing stick might be the best. ![]() You can finally stop hunting for the perfect tree, and hunt the place that you choose! Mobile HuntingĪs part of my goal of extending my capacity as a bow hunter, I purchased a complete mobile set-up last year consisting of a Lone Wolf Alpha II combined with a set of four Lone Wolf climbing sticks. This gives the hunter using those a big advantage. Combining with a quality hang-on stand, you can climb virtually any tree. They allow the hunter to climb a crooked tree and where limbs would get in the way of a normal ladder. Climbing sticks are a popular method of climbing trees by hunters using a hang-on stand. ![]() ![]() println(fermentationDelta / 36000000. println( "Time to fermentation (hours) ") Unsigned long fermentationDelta = fermentationStartTime - fermentationModeStartTime fillRect( 0, 60, 240, tempTextSize * pixelMultiplier, ILI9341_BLACK) publish(messageBase + "ferment/rate ", String(fermentationRate, 2)) So we fell back hint: on trying to resolve the argument as a. hint: We found 2 remotes with a reference that matched. ![]() ![]() If you sharpen a file and the resize, you never get the optimal sharpening. Sharpening should be the absolut last step in your workflow, and must be done specifically for the target (export) resolution. If you want to inspect sharpness of 45 MP files, you will need a display showing this resolution at 100%. Of course you will see differences, but it is a misleading preview, never the actual level of sharpness.Īffinity Apps amplify this problem by rendering the sharpening in canvas resolution (and exporting the actual sharpness which looks different) - this is the main reason for the advise to use 100% during applying sharpening When zoomed out you see a downsampled version, which always removes fine details (highest frequencies). You physically cant see and judge the actual sharpness of images if zoomed out. but yeh I find the sharpening a bit of an iterative process Id rather speed up with even a workaround method.Īny help with this or thoughts would be really appreciated.Ī complex topic with lots of „personal preferences“. Is this the same for sharpening in photoshop or Lightroom? Or should I maybe process the raw files first in Canon Digital Photo Professional? Id rather not do that as Affinity does it all in one place. What is your sharpening process? Am I doing something really stupid or do you all just follow a similar iterative approach to you are happy. I guess im looking for some advice from other Landscape photographers on here using Affinity. I have also heard it may only be a problem with Canon RAW files? And other files from Nikon or Sony don't behave this way. This is silly however and really not how id like to sharpen images. I often feel I have to over sharpen to then end up with the actual sharpness I want when I hit develop or apply. The problem is that when you sharpen in either the Develop or photo persona, when you hit develop or apply then you seem to loose a good proportion of the sharpness. Especially when working with a 45MP full frame output from a Canon R5 100% is a tiny proportion of the shot on screen. the problem is when im looking at a landscape picture I really want to see the effect of the sharpening on the whole picture and not just a postage stamp detail section. As others have said in previous sharpening posts its designed to be used at 100%. ![]() bar one thing! The sharpening function!
